0:16 I am one of the Companions.

0:21 I was a king of Kindah and its obeyed leader.

0:25 Among my people, I was a man of great nobility and stature.

0:28 I was known for my generosity and courage.

0:30 I was a man of sound judgment and boldness.

0:33 I was described as having an aura of awe and dignity.

0:35 I came to the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him.

0:40 I arrived with eighty riders from Kindah.

0:43 No delegation had ever come with such size and density.

0:48 This was to demonstrate our honor and our strength.

0:52 It was a delegation befitting the status of kings.

0:56 We entered his mosque.

0:59 We had groomed our hair and applied kohl.

1:02 We were wearing the finest garments, adorned with silk.

1:07 We captivated the eyes of the people.

1:10 The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, said:

1:14 "Have you not accepted Islam?"

1:16 We replied, "Yes, O Messenger of Allah."

1:19 He said, "Then what is this silk around your necks?"

1:23 We tore it off, removed it, and cast it aside.

1:28 After the death of the Prophet, peace be upon him,

1:33 I apostatized from Islam, along with some people from Kindah.

1:38 We were besieged and then taken under a pledge of safety.

1:41 When I was brought as a captive to Abu Bakr, may Allah be pleased with him,

1:46 I pledged allegiance to Islam anew.

1:49 He released my bonds.

1:51 I asked him to give his sister to me in marriage.

1:55 He did so.

1:57 I took my sword and entered the camel market.

2:01 I did not see a single she-camel or camel but that I slaughtered it.

2:06 The people shouted,

2:08 "He has disbelieved! He has apostatized!"

2:11 I threw down my sword and said, "By Allah, I have not disbelieved."

2:16 "But this man has given me his sister in marriage."

2:20 "Had we been in our own land,"

2:22 "we would have held a different feast than this."

2:26 "O people of Madinah,"

2:28 "slaughter and eat!"

2:30 "And O owners of the camels,"

2:32 "come and take their price."

2:35 One day, I attended a funeral.

2:38 Jarir Ibn 'Abdullah al-Bajali, may Allah be pleased with him, was present.

2:44 The people pushed me forward to lead the prayer.

2:47 I stepped back and pushed Jarir forward.

2:50 I said to the people,

2:52 "I apostatized one day,"

2:55 "whereas he never apostatized."

2:59 I participated in the Islamic conquests

3:02 during the era of the Rightly Guided Caliphs.

3:05 My eye was injured one day at Yarmouk.

3:08 I died after the killing of 'Ali Ibn Abi Talib, may Allah be pleased with him,

3:13 by forty nights.

3:16 My daughter's husband led my funeral prayer,

3:19 al-Hasan Ibn 'Ali, may Allah be pleased with them both.
