0:16 I am one of the Companions from the Quraysh.

0:21 And I am a leader among their leaders.

0:24 My father is the Pharaoh of this Ummah.

0:27 As the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, titled him.

0:31 I was fiercely hostile toward Islam and the Muslims.

0:35 I saw my father killed before my eyes at the Battle of Badr.

0:39 This only increased my hostility toward the Muslims.

0:42 So, I went out on the day of Uhud to avenge my father.

0:46 I witnessed every battle with the Quraysh against the Muslims.

0:51 At the conquest of Makkah, the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, ordered my execution.

0:57 Because of my evil deeds.

1:00 So I fled, wandering aimlessly.

1:03 Fearing the Muslims.

1:05 I boarded a ship.

1:07 A storm struck us.

1:09 The captain of the ship said:

1:11 "Be sincere, for your idols cannot avail you anything here."

1:17 I reflected and said to myself:

1:19 "By Allah, this is exactly what Muhammad calls to."

1:23 My senses returned to me, and I said:

1:26 "By Allah, if Allah saves me from this,

1:29 I will return to Muhammad,

1:32 And I will place my hand in his."

1:35 The wind calmed down.

1:37 I disembarked from the ship.

1:39 And I headed toward Madinah.

1:41 On my way, I met my wife,

1:44 Who had secured a guarantee of safety for me from the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him.

1:50 She came to bring me the good news.

1:52 She said:

1:54 "I have come to you from the most kind of people,

1:56 The most righteous of people,

1:58 And the best of people.

2:00 Do not destroy yourself;

2:02 Come with me to him."

2:04 So I returned with her.

2:06 When I entered upon the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him,

2:10 He rose to greet me with joy,

2:12 Without his outer garment on his shoulders.

2:15 And he said to me:

2:17 "Welcome, the migrating rider."

2:20 So I embraced Islam.

2:21 And I asked the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him,

2:24 To seek forgiveness for me for every position I had taken against him.

2:29 So he sought forgiveness for me.

2:31 Then I said:

2:32 "O Messenger of Allah,

2:34 I will not spend any wealth that I had spent in hindering the cause of Islam,

2:39 Except that I will spend double that in the way of Allah.

2:43 And I will not fight in any battle in which I fought to hinder the way of Allah,

2:48 Except that I will fight double that in His way."

2:53 During the Battle of Yarmouk,

2:55 The distress intensified for the Muslims at one point.

2:59 I dismounted from my horse,

3:01 I broke the scabbard of my sword,

3:03 And I plunged into the ranks of the Romans.

3:06 Khalid Ibn al-Walid, may Allah be pleased with him, rushed to me and said:

3:11 "Do not do this, O cousin,

3:13 For your death would be a great loss for the Muslims."

3:17 I said to him:

3:19 "Step aside from me, O Khalid.

3:22 I fought with my own self against the Messenger of Allah;

3:25 Shall I be cowardly now?"

3:27 So I fought until I was struck and fell.

3:31 I fell beside al-Harith Ibn Hisham,

3:34 And 'Ayyash Ibn Abi Rabi'ah, may Allah be pleased with them.

3:38 Al-Harith called for water to drink.

3:41 When they brought him the water,

3:44 He looked at me and preferred me over himself for the water.

3:48 He said, "Give it to him."

3:51 They brought the water to me.

3:53 I said, "Give it to 'Ayyash Ibn Abi Rabi'ah beside me," for he was still breathing.

3:58 I said:

3:59 "Give it to 'Ayyash."

4:02 When they reached him,

4:04 He had already passed away.

4:07 When they returned to me,

4:09 I had also passed away.

4:13 They returned to al-Harith,

4:15 And found that he had also passed away.

4:19 So none of us tasted the water.

4:22 They found on my body over seventy wounds,

4:26 Between a sword strike,

4:28 A spear thrust,

4:30 Or an arrow shot.
