0:16 I am a Companion of the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him.

0:22 I witnessed the Pledge of Ridwan with him.

0:25 I performed the Farewell Pilgrimage with him.

0:28 I was thirty years old at the time.

0:30 In the pre-Islamic era, I was known for my sound judgment and truthfulness.

0:35 The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, sent me.

0:38 To invite my tribe, Bahilah, to Islam.

0:42 I came to them while they were drinking blood.

0:45 They welcomed me and invited me to eat.

0:49 I said, "I have come to forbid you from this food."

0:53 "I am the messenger of the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him."

0:57 "So that you may believe in him."

0:59 They rejected me and turned me away.

1:02 I left, hungry and thirsty.

1:05 I fell asleep.

1:07 In my dream, I was brought a drink of milk.

1:10 I drank until I was full.

1:13 My stomach became distended.

1:15 Then my people reflected.

1:17 Some said to others,

1:19 "A man from among your nobles and best has come to you."

1:23 "And you have turned him away."

1:25 So they brought me food and drink.

1:27 I said, "I have no need for it."

1:30 "Allah has fed me and given me to drink."

1:34 They looked at my condition and my stomach.

1:37 And they all believed.

1:39 The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, intended.

1:44 To send an army for a military expedition.

1:46 And I was among them.

1:48 I came to him and said,

1:50 "O Messenger of Allah,"

1:52 "Pray to Allah for my martyrdom."

1:54 He said,

1:55 "O Allah, grant them safety and spoils of war."

1:58 We went on the expedition.

2:00 We were kept safe and we gained spoils.

2:02 Then I came to him after that and said,

2:05 "O Messenger of Allah,"

2:07 "Command me to do a deed I may take from you."

2:10 "By which Allah, the Almighty, may benefit me."

2:12 He said,

2:15 "You must fast."

2:17 "For there is nothing like it."

2:19 So I, my wife, and my servant.

2:22 Would never abandon fasting.

2:24 Then I came to him after that and said,

2:27 "O Messenger of Allah,"

2:29 "You have commanded me to do a deed."

2:31 "And I hope that Allah, the Almighty,"

2:34 "Has benefited me through it."

2:36 "So command me to do another deed by which Allah, the Almighty, may benefit me."

2:40 He said,

2:42 "Know that you do not prostrate once to Allah,"

2:45 "But that Allah, the Almighty, raises you a degree because of it,"

2:49 "Or wipes away a sin from you."

2:52 I was famous for my asceticism, piety, and frequent worship.

2:57 I was among those who constantly fasted and stood long in prayer at night.

3:01 A man came to me and said,

3:04 "I saw you in my dream."

3:07 "And the angels were invoking blessings upon you."

3:10 "Whenever you entered and whenever you left."

3:13 "And whenever you stood and whenever you sat."

3:16 I said,

3:18 "May Allah forgive."

3:20 "Leave us be regarding this."

3:22 Then I said to those around me,

3:24 "And you, if you wished,"

3:26 "The angels would invoke blessings upon you."

3:30 Then I recited to them His saying, the Exalted:

3:33 "O you who have believed,"

3:37 “O ye who believe! Remember Allah with much remembrance.” (33:41)

3:41 "And exalt Him morning and afternoon."

3:47 “He it is Who blesseth you, and His angels (bless you), that He may bring you forth from darkness unto light; and He is ever Merciful to the believers.” (33:43)

3:51 "And His angels [ask Him to bless you],"

3:54 "That He may bring you out from darkness into the light."

3:59 "And ever is He, to the believers, Merciful."

4:06 I was a generous man who loved charity.

4:09 And I would never turn away a beggar.

4:11 One day I woke up.

4:13 And I had nothing but three dinars.

4:16 A beggar came to me.

4:18 So I gave him a dinar.

4:20 Then another came to me.

4:22 So I gave him a dinar.

4:24 Then a third came to me.

4:26 So I gave him a dinar.

4:28 My wife became angry and said,

4:31 "Nothing is left for us to eat."

4:34 And she began to blame me.

4:36 So I left her and went to the mosque.

4:39 She felt pity for me.

4:41 So she went and borrowed some money.

4:44 And bought dinner with it.

4:46 And set a table for us.

4:48 When she went to prepare the bedding,

4:51 She lifted the pillow.

4:53 And there were three hundred gold dinars.

4:57 She left them as they were.

5:00 When I entered and saw what she had prepared for me,

5:03 I praised Allah, the Exalted.

5:05 And I said, "This is better than the other."

5:09 So I sat and ate dinner.

5:11 She said to me,

5:13 "May Allah forgive you."

5:15 "You came with this large amount of money."

5:19 "Then you placed it in a place where it could be lost."

5:22 I said, "What is that?"

5:25 She said, "The dinars you brought."

5:28 And she lifted the pillow from them.

5:31 I was startled by what I saw underneath it.

5:34 And I said, "Woe to you, what is this?"

5:37 She said, "I have no knowledge of it."

5:40 "Except that I found it here as you see."

5:44 I knew it was from the provision of Allah.

5:47 So I praised Allah.

5:49 After the death of the Prophet, peace be upon him,

5:53 I participated with the Muslims in the conquests of the Levant.

5:57 And I had a role in the spread of Islam there.

6:01 I used to refuse positions of authority and appointments.

6:05 Preferring a life of asceticism and spreading knowledge among the people.

6:09 Until my death.

6:11 I was among the last of the Companions to die.

6:14 In the blessed land of the Levant.
