1:25 While I was sitting in one of the gatherings of my people, the Banu Mudlij,

1:33 stood before us, and said:

1:40 I believe them to be Muhammad and his companions."
1:43 I knew it was them,
1:45 but I said, "It is not them;
1:49 rather, you saw so-and-so and so-and-so."
1:52 They were merely scouts we had sent out.
1:54 I stayed in the gathering for a while,
1:57 then I got up and entered my house.
2:00 I ordered my slave girl to take my horse out from behind the house,
2:04 and to keep it hidden for me.
2:07 I took my spear with me,
2:09 and went out from the back of the house,
2:12 until I reached my horse and mounted it.
2:15 I rode off until I drew near them,
2:18 but my horse stumbled,
2:20 and I fell off.
2:22 I stood up and reached for my quiver,
2:26 took out the divining arrows,
2:29 and cast them to see if I should harm them or not.
2:33 The result I disliked came out.
2:35 I mounted my horse again, ignoring the arrows.
2:39 I approached them until I heard the recitation of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him.

3:29 that the cause of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, would surely prevail.
3:34 I said to him,
3:36 "Your people have placed a bounty on you."
3:39 I told him what the people intended for them,
3:43 and I offered them provisions and supplies.
3:46 They did not take anything from me,
3:49 nor did they ask for anything,
3:51 except that he said:
3:53 "Keep our secret."
3:55 I asked him to write me a document of safety.
3:58 He commanded 'Amir Ibn Fuhayra, may Allah be pleased with him,
4:00 and he wrote it for me on a piece of parchment.
4:04 Then the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, departed.
4:10 When Allah granted His Messenger victory over Mecca,
4:13 and he had finished with Hunayn and Ta'if,
4:16 I went out with the document to meet him,
4:19 until I drew near him
4:21 while he was on his camel.
4:23 I raised my hand with the document,
4:25 and said, "O Messenger of Allah,
4:28 this is your document for me."
4:30 The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said:
4:34 "This is a day of fulfillment and righteousness."
4:38 I drew near him and embraced Islam.
