0:16 I am one of the Mothers of the Believers and the wife of the noble Messenger, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him.

0:25 I was the person he loved most.

0:28 He married me as a virgin before the migration to Medina.

0:32 He did not marry any other virgin besides me.

0:35 He consummated the marriage with me when I was nine years old.

0:39 This was after his return from the Battle of Badr.

0:42 It took place in the second year after the Hijrah.

0:45 I remained with him and in his company until he passed away.

0:49 I narrated a great deal of knowledge from him.

0:52 So much so that the scholars consider me the most learned woman in the entire Ummah.

0:58 The revelation would descend upon the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him,

1:04 while he was with me under my cover.

1:07 He, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, declared

1:10 that my superiority over all other women

1:13 is like the superiority of tharid over all other food.

1:17 During the Battle of Banu al-Mustaliq,

1:20 I went out with the army in the company of the Prophet, peace be upon him.

1:25 On the way, I stepped aside to attend to a personal need.

1:29 The army moved on, unaware that I was not with them.

1:33 When I returned to their camp, I found no one there.

1:37 I stayed behind, hoping they would notice my absence and return for me.

1:42 Then the noble Companion Safwan ibn al-Mu'attal, may Allah be pleased with him, arrived.

1:47 He helped me and escorted me until we caught up with the army.

1:51 When the hypocrites saw us,

1:54 they slandered me with the lie, saying,

1:57 "By Allah, neither he nor she remained innocent."

2:01 But Allah Almighty vindicated me from above the seven heavens.

2:05 He revealed verses about me that will be recited until the Day of Resurrection.

2:10 These are the magnificent verses found in Surah al-Nur.

2:15 Because of me, the verse regarding tayammum (dry ablution) was revealed.

2:18 This happened when I lost my necklace while we were on a journey.

2:22 I went off to search for it.

2:24 I delayed the army while they were in a place without water.

2:28 When the time for prayer arrived,

2:30 Allah revealed the verse of tayammum.

2:33 Usayd ibn Hudayr, may Allah be pleased with him, said to me,

2:37 "May Allah reward you with goodness.

2:39 By Allah, no difficult situation has ever befallen you

2:43 but that Allah has brought goodness out of it for you and for us."

2:47 "This is not the first of your blessings, O family of Abu Bakr."

2:52 My father also said to me,

2:54 "By Allah, my daughter, you are truly blessed.

2:58 Look at what Allah has granted the Muslims through your delaying them:

3:02 such blessing and ease."

3:04 The Prophet, peace be upon him, once raced with me

3:09 during one of his travels,

3:11 and I outran him.

3:12 But when I grew older and gained weight,

3:15 he raced me again and outran me,

3:18 and said, "This is for that."

3:21 The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, passed away

3:25 in my house and on my night.

3:28 Allah brought my saliva and his together at the time of his death.

3:32 He passed away while he was resting between my chest and my chin.
