1:49 So I said, "I am a woman from the Quraysh,
1:53 and I wish to join the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him,
1:58 but I do not know the way."
2:01 He said, "I will be your companion until I bring you to Madinah."
2:07 May Allah reward him well as a companion.
2:10 I found no fault in him at all until we reached Madinah.
2:15 Then he left me and went on his way.
2:18 I entered upon Umm Salamah, may Allah be pleased with her.
2:20 She embraced me and was happy to see me.
2:23 She said, "Have you migrated for the sake of Allah, the Almighty and Majestic, and His Messenger?"
2:28 I said, "Yes."
2:30 Then the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, entered the house of Umm Salamah.
2:35 When he learned of my presence, he welcomed me.
2:40 My two brothers, al-Walid and 'Amarah, came out in pursuit of me.
2:44 They arrived the day after I reached Madinah.
2:49 They said, "O Muhammad, fulfill your agreement with us."
2:54 I said, "O Messenger of Allah, I fear that they will persecute me regarding my religion,
3:00 and I have no endurance for that.
3:02 You know the state of women and their vulnerability."
3:06 The Prophet, peace be upon him, remained silent.
3:10 Then Allah, the Almighty, revealed to him the abrogation of the treaty regarding the women,
3:15 and He revealed the verse of the test.
3:17 “O ye who believe! When believing women come unto you as fugitives, examine them. Allah is Best Aware of their faith. Then, if ye know them for true believers, send them not back unto the disbelievers. They are not lawful for them (the disbelievers), nor are they (the disbelievers) lawful for them. And give them (the disbelievers) that which they have spent (upon them). And it is no sin for you to marry such women when ye have given them their dues. And hold not to the ties of disbelieving women; and ask for (the return of) that which ye have spent; and let them (the disbelievers) ask for that which they have spent. That is the judgment of Allah. He judgeth between you. Allah is Knower, Wise.” (60:10)
