0:12 A new challenge: Who am I?
0:16 I am one of the Companions from the Muhajirun.
0:23 I am the disciple (hawari) of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him.
0:27 I am one of the ten promised Paradise.
0:31 I was the first to draw a sword in Islam.
0:35 This happened when a rumor spread by the Shaytan circulated,
0:39 claiming that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him,
0:42 had been seized in the upper reaches of Makkah.
0:45 I went out, though I was a boy of twelve years,
0:49 with a sword in my hand.
0:51 Whoever saw me was amazed and said,
0:53 "The boy has a sword with him!"
0:56 I reached the Prophet, peace be upon him,
1:00 and he asked, "What is the matter with you?"
1:02 I replied, "I heard that they had seized you,
1:06 so I came to strike with my sword whoever had taken you."
1:09 He prayed for me and for my sword,
1:12 and he named me his disciple.
1:14 When the persecution of the polytheists against us in Makkah intensified,
1:19 I migrated to Abyssinia with those who migrated.
1:22 An incident occurred there that terrified us.
1:26 A man rose up
1:29 to challenge the Negus for his kingdom.
1:32 By Allah, we had never known a sadness
1:35 greater than that,
1:37 fearing that this man would defeat him,
1:40 and he would not recognize our rights as the Negus had.
1:45 We began to call upon Allah and seek His aid for the Negus,
1:50 and we said,
1:51 "Who will go out to witness the battle and see who emerges victorious?"
1:57 I said, "I will."
1:58 I was the youngest of them in age.
2:01 They inflated a waterskin for me and placed it against my chest,
2:05 and I began to swim across the Nile with it,
2:08 until I emerged on the other side,
2:11 where the people had met.
2:13 I witnessed the battle,
2:15 and I saw the victory of the Negus,
2:18 and how Allah defeated that man and killed him.
2:22 I returned to the people,
2:25 and I began to wave my garment to them, saying,
2:29 "Rejoice!
2:31 For Allah has granted victory to the Negus."
2:34 By Allah, we never knew a joy
2:38 like our joy at the victory of the Negus.
2:42 Then we stayed with him,
2:44 until those of us who left for Makkah departed,
2:47 and those who remained stayed.
2:51 At the Battle of Badr,
2:53 I was wearing a yellow turban,
2:56 and Jibril and the angels descended in my likeness.

3:17 The best of generations in their stances and examples,
3:22 following the Messenger whenever he strove or spoke.
3:27 They were here, watering the clouds of our lives,
3:32 and through their stances, their memory is exalted.
3:37 They departed and cast a question into the conscience:
3:42 Is there a star like them that has risen and shone?
3:47 They filled life with glories through their deeds,
3:52 and the world of the noble flourished because of them.
