0:16 I am one of the female Companions and among the early believers.

0:23 I was married to Ja'far ibn Abi Talib, may Allah be pleased with him.

0:27 He was the cousin of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him.

0:31 When my husband migrated to Abyssinia,

0:34 and resided in the land of the Negus,

0:37 I migrated with him and stayed there in the land of Abyssinia.

0:41 I supported him, eased his burdens, and endured the sorrows of exile alongside him.

0:47 When we returned to Medina, it was during the conquest of Khaybar.

0:52 The Prophet, peace be upon him, rejoiced at our arrival.

0:58 My husband, Ja'far ibn Abi Talib, may Allah be pleased with him, went out on the day of the Battle of Mu'tah.

1:03 He fought until he was killed.

1:06 The news reached the Prophet, peace be upon him.

1:10 He was deeply saddened by his passing.

1:12 Then he came to our house.

1:15 I had finished my chores and kneaded my dough.

1:19 I had washed my children, anointed them, and cleaned them.

1:23 The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, said:

1:27 "Bring me the children of Ja'far."

1:29 So I brought them to him.

1:31 He smelled them, and his eyes welled up with tears.

1:34 I said, "O Messenger of Allah,

1:36 may my father and mother be sacrificed for you, what makes you weep?

1:40 Has news reached you regarding Ja'far and his companions?"

1:43 He said, "Yes, he was struck down today."

1:47 I stood up crying, and the women gathered around me.

1:51 The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, went out to his family,

1:56 and said:

1:57 "Do not neglect the family of Ja'far; prepare food for them,

2:02 for they have been struck by something that occupies them."

2:06 I visited the Mother of the Believers, Hafsa, may Allah be pleased with her, one day.

2:12 Then 'Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, entered upon us.

2:15 He asked, "Who is this?"

2:18 Hafsa informed him.

2:20 He said, "The Abyssinian? The one who traveled by sea?"

2:25 I replied, "Yes."

2:28 He said, "We preceded you in migration,

2:31 so we have more right to the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, than you."

2:36 I became angry and said,

2:38 "By no means, by Allah!

2:40 You were with the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him;

2:44 he fed your hungry and taught your ignorant.

2:48 We were in the land of the distant and the hostile in Abyssinia,

2:52 and that was for the sake of Allah and His Messenger, peace be upon him.

2:57 By Allah,

2:59 I will not eat food nor drink a drink

3:03 until I mention what you said to the Prophet, peace be upon him, and ask him about it.

3:08 By Allah, I will not lie, nor will I add anything to it."

3:12 When the Prophet, peace be upon him, came,

3:16 I said, "O Prophet of Allah,

3:19 'Umar said such and such."

3:22 He, peace be upon him, said:

3:25 "He has no more right to me than you do.

3:28 He and his companions have one migration,

3:32 but you, the people of the ship, have two migrations."

3:36 I was overjoyed by that.

3:38 Abu Musa and the people of the ship used to come to me in groups,

3:43 asking me about this hadith.

3:46 There is nothing in this world we are more joyful about, nor anything greater in our estimation,
