0:16 I am one of the Companions from the Ansar.

0:22 I am one of the famous archers and renowned brave warriors.

0:27 I witnessed all the battles with the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him.

0:34 One day, the Prophet, peace be upon him, said to me:

0:37 "Your voice in the army is better than a thousand horsemen."

0:42 I stood firm on the day of Uhud when the people fled.

0:47 I was shooting arrows in front of the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, defending him.

0:53 I was a man who pulled the bowstring with great strength.

0:57 I broke two or three bows that day.

1:01 A man would pass by carrying a quiver of arrows,

1:05 and the Prophet, peace be upon him, would command him to pour them out for me.

1:10 I would shield the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, from behind me,

1:15 and I would shoot at the people with my arrows.

1:18 Whenever I shot an arrow, the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, would raise his head,

1:24 looking to see where my arrow landed.

1:27 I would say, "O Prophet of Allah,

1:30 may my father and mother be sacrificed for you, do not raise your head,

1:34 lest an arrow from the enemy's arrows strike you.

1:37 My throat is a shield for your throat,

1:39 my soul is a ransom for your soul,

1:42 and my face is a shield for your dignity."

1:47 On the day of Hunayn, the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, said:

1:52 "Whoever kills an enemy combatant is entitled to his spoils."

1:56 I killed twenty men that day,

1:59 and I took their spoils.

2:03 When the words of Allah the Exalted were revealed:

2:06 "You will never attain righteousness until you spend from that which you love,"

2:11 I said, "O Messenger of Allah,

2:14 I possess more wealth in Medina in the form of date palms than any of the Ansar,

2:18 and the most beloved of my wealth to me is Bayruha.

2:22 It is a charity for the sake of Allah.

2:26 So place it, O Messenger of Allah, where Allah shows you."

2:31 The Prophet, peace be upon him, said:

2:34 "Well done, well done! That is profitable wealth.

2:38 That is profitable wealth.

2:41 I suggest you distribute it among your relatives."

2:45 During the Farewell Pilgrimage, the Prophet, peace be upon him, shaved his head,

2:51 and he distributed the hair from the right side among his Companions,

2:55 giving them one or two hairs each.

2:58 He gave me all the hair from the left side.

3:02 When the Muslims resolved to launch a naval expedition

3:08 during the caliphate of Uthman Ibn Affan, may Allah be pleased with him,

3:12 I began preparing myself to go out with them.

3:15 My sons said to me,

3:17 "May Allah have mercy on you,

3:19 you have become a very old man,

3:22 and you have already fought alongside the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him,

3:26 and alongside Abu Bakr and Umar, may Allah be pleased with them both.

3:30 Why not stay behind and let us fight on your behalf?"

3:34 I replied, "Allah the Exalted says:

3:38 'Go forth, whether light or heavy,'

3:42 and He has called us all to go forth, both the old and the young."

3:47 So I insisted on going out for jihad.

3:51 While we were at sea,

3:54 death overtook me while I was on the ship.

3:57 They could not find an island to bury me on

4:00 until seven days later.

4:03 During this period,

4:06 I remained as I was, without anything changing about me.
