1:51 The Persians were superior in number and equipment.

1:55 Before the battle began,

1:58 Sa'd Ibn Abi Waqqas, may Allah be pleased with him, sent me

2:05 To scout the news of the Persians.

2:07 He ordered us to capture a man from the Persians if we could.

2:12 As soon as we left the Muslim camp,

2:16 We were surprised by the Persian army before us.

2:19 We had thought they were far away from us.

2:23 My companions thought it best to return,

2:26 But I refused to return before completing the mission Sa'd, may Allah be pleased with him, had assigned us.

2:33 My six companions returned to the Muslim army,

2:37 While I headed on my horse to charge into the Persian army alone.

2:43 I circled around the army

2:45 Until I reached a large, white-colored tent.

2:50 In front of it were horses of the finest breed.

2:54 I knew it was the tent of the Persian commander, Rustam.

2:58 I cut its ropes and set the horses free.

3:02 The tent collapsed on those inside, and then I fled.

3:07 My intention in doing so was to humiliate them.

3:10 As I retreated toward the Muslim army,

3:15 Three of their champion knights followed me.

3:19 When we had passed their camp,

3:22 I stopped to fight them.

3:24 I killed two of them,

3:26 And took the third as a prisoner.

3:29 I brought him to the Muslim camp.

3:32 Sa'd, may Allah be pleased with him, said to the prisoner,

3:36 "Tell me about your army."

3:38 The Persian said in astonishment,

3:41 "I will tell you about my army?

3:43 Rather, I will tell you about this man who brought me here.

3:48 We have never seen the likes of this man.

3:52 He bypassed two camps

3:54 That no army would dare to bypass.

3:57 Then he cut the tent of our commander,

3:59 And set his horses free.

4:01 Then he killed two of our finest knights,

4:04 And took me prisoner.

4:06 And I used to think I was one of the bravest Persians.

4:09 So what kind of hero is this?"

4:12 That Persian then embraced Islam,

4:14 And informed Sa'd of the news of the Persian army.

4:18 I continued, steadfast in my Islam and my jihad,

4:23 Attending battles,

4:25 And fighting in the cause of Allah,

4:28 Until I was killed in the Battle of Nahavand.
