0:14 Surah al-Layl (The Night).

0:18 In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

0:22 By the night when it covers.

0:25 And by the day when it shines forth.

0:29 “And Him Who hath created male and female,” (92:3)

0:33 Indeed, your efforts are diverse.

0:37 The Exalted says, swearing by the night,

0:41 When it covers the day with its darkness,

0:44 Removing its light and bringing forth its gloom.

0:47 And by the night as it covers the day.

0:50 And He swears by the day when it brightens and illuminates,

0:54 Making visible to the eyes what the darkness of the night

0:57 Had previously obscured and hidden,

1:00 Preventing it from being seen clearly.

1:03 And His saying:

1:04 “And Him Who hath created male and female,” (92:3)

1:07 It may be an oath from Allah, whose praise is exalted,

1:10 By the Creator of the male and the female,

1:12 Or it may be an oath by His act of creating the male and the female.

1:16 Indeed, your efforts are diverse.

1:19 Meaning: your deeds are varied, O people.

1:23 For among you are those who disbelieve in their Lord and disobey His commands and prohibitions,

1:28 And those who believe in Him and obey His commands and prohibitions.

1:32 As for he who gives and fears Allah,

1:38 And believes in the best (the truth),

1:41 We will facilitate for him the way to ease.

1:44 But as for he who withholds and considers himself self-sufficient,

1:49 And denies the best (the truth),

1:52 We will facilitate for him the way to hardship.

1:55 As for he who gives and fears Allah among you, O people, in the path of Allah,

2:01 And follows what Allah commanded him to give from his wealth and what He bestowed upon him of His bounty,

2:06 And fears Allah and avoids His prohibitions,

2:09 And believes in the reward from Allah for what he gave of his wealth,

2:14 In accordance with what Allah commanded him to spend,

2:19 We will prepare him for the path of ease,

2:22 Which is to perform the deeds that Allah is pleased with in this world,

2:26 So that He may grant him Paradise in the Hereafter.

2:30 As for he who is stingy with his spending in the path of Allah,

2:33 And withholds what Allah has bestowed upon him of His bounty,

2:37 Refusing to spend it in the ways Allah has commanded,

2:41 And considers himself independent of his Lord, not seeking His favor through obedience,

2:46 Nor seeking increase in what He has granted him,

2:49 And denies the reward,

2:52 We will prepare him in this world for the path of hardship.

2:56 “His riches will not save him when he perisheth.” (92:11)

3:02 Indeed, upon Us is the guidance.

3:05 “And lo! unto Us belong the latter portion and the former.” (92:13)

3:10 What will avail this person who is stingy with his wealth,

3:15 And considers himself independent of his Lord,

3:17 When he falls into Hell on the Day of Resurrection?

3:21 Indeed, it is for Us to clarify the truth from falsehood,

3:25 And obedience from disobedience.

3:27 And to Us belongs the dominion of all that is in this world and the Hereafter;

3:31 We give from both to whom We will among Our creation,

3:34 And withhold it from whom We will.

3:36 So I have warned you of a Fire which rages.

3:42 None will enter it except the most wretched,

3:46 Who denies and turns away.

3:49 But the righteous will be kept far from it,

3:53 He who gives his wealth to purify himself.

3:57 And he has no favor from anyone to be repaid,

4:04 “Except as seeking (to fulfil) the purpose of his Lord Most High.” (92:20)

4:10 And he will surely be satisfied.

4:13 I have warned you, O people, of a Fire that blazes,

4:17 Which none shall enter to be scorched by its flames except the most wretched,

4:22 Who denied the signs of his Lord and turned away from them,

4:25 And did not believe in them.

4:27 But the righteous will be saved from the fire that rages,

4:31 He who gives his wealth in this world,

4:34 Fulfilling the rights of Allah that He has obligated upon him,

4:38 Purifying himself from his sins by giving that wealth.

4:42 And he does not owe anyone among the creation of Allah,

4:45 Who gives his wealth in the path of Allah to purify himself,

4:49 Any favor that he is trying to repay.

4:51 He does not spend what he spends,

4:54 Nor does he give what he gives, as a recompense to a person,

4:57 To repay him for a favor he previously received,

5:00 Nor is it a reward for a blessing,

5:03 That someone had previously bestowed upon him.

5:06 Rather, he gives it for the sake of Allah's rights,

5:09 Seeking only the Countenance of Allah.

5:11 And this giver will surely be satisfied,

5:13 With what he gave in the rights of Allah, the Almighty and Majestic,

5:16 Purifying himself through what Allah will reward him with in the Hereafter,

5:19 As a compensation for what he gave in this world,

5:22 In His path, when he meets his Lord, the Blessed and Exalted.
