0:14 Surah Al 'Imran.

0:17 In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

0:22 They are not all alike;

0:26 Among the People of the Book is an upright community,

0:32 “They are not all alike. Of the People of the Scripture there is a staunch community who recite the revelations of Allah in the night season, falling prostrate (before Him).” (3:113)

0:42 And they prostrate.

0:46 The groups among the People of the Book are not identical;

0:48 The believers among them and the disbelievers are not equal.

0:53 Among the People of the Book is a group holding fast to the Book of Allah and adhering to it,

0:58 Steadfast in acting upon what it contains,

1:01 Reciting the Book of Allah during the hours of the night,

1:04 While they prostrate in worship alongside that.

1:08 “They believe in Allah and the Last Day, and enjoin right conduct and forbid indecency, and vie one with another in good works. These are of the righteous.” (3:114)

1:24 And those are among the righteous.

1:30 They believe in Allah and the Resurrection after death,

1:34 Enjoining people to believe in Allah and His Messenger,

1:38 Forbidding people from disbelieving in Allah and belying Muhammad,

1:42 And hastening to do good deeds,

1:45 Fearing that they might miss them before their appointed times of death overtake them;

1:50 And those are counted among the righteous.

1:53 “And whatever good they do, they will not be denied the meed thereof. Allah is Aware of those who ward off (evil).” (3:115)

2:00 And Allah is All-Knowing of the righteous.

2:07 Whatever good this community does,

2:10 And whatever deed they perform wherein lies Allah's pleasure,

2:14 Allah will never invalidate the reward of their deed,

2:17 Nor will He leave them without recompense;

2:20 Rather, He will grant them an abundant reward.

2:23 And Allah is fully aware of those who fear Him through obedience to Him and avoidance of His sins.

2:29 Indeed, those who disbelieve, neither their wealth nor their children will avail them;

2:37 Neither their wealth nor their children will avail them anything against Allah,

2:46 And those are the companions of the Fire;

2:52 They will abide therein eternally.

2:56 Indeed, those who rejected the prophethood of Muhammad, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him,

3:02 Neither the wealth they amassed in the worldly life nor the children they raised will ward off

3:08 Anything of Allah's punishment on the Day of Resurrection;

3:11 And those are the companions of the Fire, never to leave it nor be parted from it,

3:17 Abiding therein perpetually.

3:20 “The likeness of that which they spend in this life of the world is as the likeness of a biting, icy wind which smiteth the harvest of a people who have wronged themselves, and devastateth it. Allah wronged them not, but they do wrong themselves.” (3:117)

3:54 The likeness of what the disbeliever spends of his wealth while rejecting the oneness of Allah

4:00 Is like a wind containing biting frost

4:04 That strikes the harvest of a people who had hoped for its profitable return,

4:07 But they disobeyed Allah,

4:10 So the wind destroyed their harvest.

4:12 Such is what Allah does with the disbeliever's spending and charity in his worldly life;

4:18 When he meets Him, He invalidates its reward.

4:21 Allah did not do what He did to these disbelievers

4:25 By placing His retribution upon them unjustly or unsuitably;

4:30 Rather, He placed His action entirely in its rightful place,

4:33 And did to them what they deserved;

4:36 Instead, it is the disbeliever who wrongs his own soul

4:38 By acquiring disobedience to Allah and opposing His command.

5:09 “O ye who believe! Take not for intimates others than your own folk, who would spare no pains to ruin you; they love to hamper you. Hatred is revealed by (the utterance of) their mouths, but that which their breasts hide is greater. We have made plain for you the revelations if ye will understand.” (3:118)

5:12 We have made the signs clear to you,

5:17 If you would but understand.

5:23 O you who have believed in Allah and His Messenger!

5:27 Do not take allies and intimate friends for yourselves from among non-believers;

5:32 They spare no effort in bringing about your corruption,

5:36 Wishing for your distress and ruin in your religion.

5:40 Their hatred has already shown itself through their tongues,

5:44 And what their breasts conceal is far greater than the hatred that has appeared from their tongues.

5:50 We have made the lessons clear to you, O believers,

5:54 If you would comprehend from Allah His admonitions, His commands, and His prohibitions.

6:11 “Lo! ye are those who love them though they love you not, and ye believe in all the Scripture. When they fall in with you they say: We believe; but when they go apart they bite their finger-tips at you, for rage. Say: Perish in your rage! Lo! Allah is Aware of what is hidden in (your) breasts.” (3:119)

6:15 “Lo! ye are those who love them though they love you not, and ye believe in all the Scripture. When they fall in with you they say: We believe; but when they go apart they bite their finger-tips at you, for rage. Say: Perish in your rage! Lo! Allah is Aware of what is hidden in (your) breasts.” (3:119)

6:19 And when they are alone, they bite their fingertips at you in rage.

6:22 Say, "Die in your rage!"

6:25 Indeed, Allah is All-Knowing of what is within the breasts.

6:41 Here you are loving these disbelievers,

6:44 Whom I forbade you from taking as intimates instead of the believers,

6:49 Showing them affection and maintaining ties with them,

6:51 While they do not love you;

6:54 Rather, they harbor enmity and deceit toward you,

6:57 Even though you believe in all the Scriptures:

7:00 Your Book, which Allah revealed to you,

7:03 And their Book, which He revealed to them.

7:06 You know that those whom I forbade you from taking as intimates

7:11 Deserve your enmity more than you deserve theirs, given their rejection of some Scriptures and their disbelief in others.

7:19 When they meet the believers, they feign belief with their tongues out of fear for their lives,

7:25 Saying,

7:26 "We have believed and affirmed what Muhammad, peace be upon him, brought."

7:32 But when they are in seclusion where the believers cannot see them,

7:37 They bite their fingertips in anguish over the unity and harmony they see among the believers.

7:44 Say to these Jews:

7:46 "Perish in your rage that you harbor against the believers!"

7:50 Indeed, Allah is fully aware of what lies in the breasts of these people,

7:54 And of what lies in the breasts of all His creation.

8:07 “If a lucky chance befall you, it is evil unto them, and if disaster strike you they rejoice thereat. But if ye persevere and keep from evil their guile will never harm you. Lo! Allah is Surrounding what they do.” (3:120)

8:15 “They seek to hide from men and seek not to hide from Allah. He is with them when by night they hold discourse displeasing unto Him. Allah ever surroundeth what they do.” (4:108)

8:23 If any joy reaches you, O believers, through your triumph over your enemy,

8:28 The succession of people entering your religion,

8:31 Or being assisted against your foes, it grieves them;

8:36 But if misfortune touches you through the setback of a raiding party of yours,

8:40 A casualty inflicted by an enemy upon you,

8:43 Or discord arising among your ranks, they rejoice at it.

8:48 Yet if you are patient, O believers, in obeying Allah and fear your Lord,

8:53 Their treachery and plotting against the Muslims to turn them away from guidance will not harm you.

8:59 Indeed, concerning what these disbelievers do among His servants and in His lands

9:04 By way of corruption and barring people from His path,

9:07 Allah fully encompasses it all and records it,

9:10 Until He repays them their full recompense for all of it.

9:27 And remember when you set out in the morning from your household, O Muhammad, to post the believers at battle stations to fight their enemy;

9:34 And Allah is All-Hearing of what the believers said to you

9:38 Concerning the counsel they gave you about where to encounter your enemy,

9:42 And of the advice you offered them, O Muhammad;

9:46 All-Knowing of the best of those opinions for you and for them,

9:50 And of all other matters concerning you and them.

10:05 So let the believers put their trust in Allah.

10:36 "I shall assist him in his affair so as to strengthen him according to his intention."

10:53 And Allah had already given you victory at Badr over your enemies

10:57 When you were few on that day,

11:00 Until Allah granted you triumph over your enemy despite their large numbers.

11:05 So fear your Lord by obeying Him and avoiding His prohibitions,

11:09 That you may give thanks to Him for the victory over your enemies and the exaltation of your religion that He bestowed upon you.

11:35 “Nay, but if ye persevere, and keep from evil, and (the enemy) attack you suddenly, your Lord will help you with five thousand angels sweeping on.” (3:125)

12:06 Allah promised them three thousand angels sent down as reinforcement for them.

12:12 Then He promised them after the three thousand that if you are patient before your enemies and fear Allah,

12:18 And the polytheists advance upon you suddenly from this direction of theirs—

12:22 Which was the start of their march when they set out to support their fellow polytheists—

12:28 Your Lord will reinforce you with five thousand angels marked for battle,

12:33 With the tails and forelocks of their horses trimmed and bearing white wool.

12:57 Allah did not make His promise to you of reinforcing you with the angels

13:02 Except as good tidings to give you cheer,

13:04 And so that your hearts might be reassured thereby,

13:07 Finding tranquility in it and not despairing over the vast numbers of your enemy.

13:12 Your victory, if you defeat your enemy, comes only with the help of Allah,

13:16 Not merely by virtue of the reinforcements that reach you from the angels.

13:21 So rely upon Allah alone, not upon armies or vast numbers,

13:26 For He is the Almighty in taking vengeance upon the people of disbelief

13:29 At the hands of His allies among the people of His obedience,

13:33 The All-Wise in His planning against your enemies

13:36 And in all other affairs of His.

13:53 “Allah had already given you the victory at Badr, when ye were contemptible. So observe your duty to Allah in order that ye may be thankful.” (3:123)

13:56 That He might cut off a faction of those who disbelieved in Allah and His Messenger,

14:01 Or disgrace them with failure regarding the victory they had hoped to gain over you,

14:05 So that they turn back from you disappointed,

14:08 Having attained nothing of what they had hoped for against you.

14:23 It is not up to you, O Muhammad, to decide the fate of My creation,

14:26 Whether He accepts their repentance or punishes them;

14:29 For indeed, they are wrongdoers,

14:32 Having deserved that punishment through their disobedience to Me;

14:35 For nothing of the creation's affairs belongs to anyone other than their Creator;

14:41 Rather, their affair belongs solely to Me,

14:43 And the judgment concerning them is in My hand.

15:00 You have no part in the decision, O Muhammad.

15:04 To Allah belongs all that is within the realms of the heavens and the earth;

15:09 He accepts the repentance of whomever He wills among His disobedient creation,

15:12 And then forgives him,

15:14 And He punishes whomever He wills among them for his crime.

15:18 He is the All-Forgiving, who conceals the sins of whomever He wills among His creation,

15:22 And the Most Merciful to them in withholding their immediate punishment

15:26 Despite the enormity of what they commit.

15:28 “O ye who believe! Devour not usury, doubling and quadrupling (the sum lent). Observe your duty to Allah, that ye may be successful.” (3:130)

15:34 And fear Allah, that you may be successful.

15:40 O you who have believed in Allah and His Messenger!

15:44 Do not consume usury in your Islam

15:47 As you used to consume it in your pre-Islamic ignorance, multiplied manifold;

15:52 Where it becomes compounded many times over,

15:55 Doubled and multiplied;

15:58 Whereby a man would owe another man money until a specified term,

16:02 And when the term fell due, the creditor would demand it from his debtor,

16:06 So the one who owed the money would say to him,

16:08 "Extend the deadline of your debt for me, and I will increase your money,"

16:12 And they would do so;

16:14 That is usury compounded manifold.

16:18 So fear Allah, O believers, concerning the matter of usury and do not consume it,

16:23 And in all else that He has commanded you or forbidden you,

16:27 So that you may prosper and be saved from His punishment.

16:38 And fear, O believers, the Fire which I have prepared for those who disbelieve in Me, lest you enter it

16:45 By consuming usury after I have forbidden it.

16:54 And obey Allah, O believers, in what He has forbidden you,

16:59 Such as consuming usury and other prohibited matters,

17:02 And obey the Messenger in what he has commanded you,

17:06 That you may receive mercy and not be punished.
