0:18 In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

0:22 “Thy Lord hath decreed, that ye worship none save Him, and (that ye show) kindness to parents. If one of them or both of them attain old age with thee, say not "Fie" unto them nor repulse them, but speak unto them a gracious word.” (17:23)

0:27 And show kindness to parents.

1:26 “And lower unto them the wing of submission through mercy, and say: My Lord! Have mercy on them both as they did care for me when I was little.” (17:24)

1:32 And say, "My Lord, have mercy upon them as they brought me up when I was small."

1:42 And lower to them the wing of humility out of mercy for them.

1:46 And supplicate to Allah for your parents, asking for His mercy.

1:49 Say, "My Lord, have mercy on them and be compassionate toward them."

1:52 Through Your forgiveness and Your mercy.

1:54 Just as they were compassionate toward me in my childhood.

1:59 “Your Lord is Best Aware of what is in your minds. If ye are righteous, then lo! He was ever Forgiving unto those who turn (unto Him).” (17:25)

2:12 Your Lord, O people, is more aware of what is in your souls.

2:18 Regarding your honoring of your fathers and mothers.

2:22 Or any disregard for their rights or disobedience toward them.

2:26 And He will recompense you for that.

2:29 For if you have rectified your intentions toward them.

2:32 And obeyed Allah in being dutiful to them.

2:35 Indeed, He is ever Forgiving to those who return to Him after a lapse.

2:38 And to those who repent after a mistake.

2:43 “Give the kinsman his due, and the needy, and the wayfarer, and squander not (thy wealth) in wantonness.” (17:26)

2:47 And give the relative his right, and the needy and the traveler, and do not spend wastefully.

2:51 “Lo! the squanderers were ever brothers of the devils, and the devil was ever an ingrate to his Lord.” (17:27)

2:57 “Lo! the squanderers were ever brothers of the devils, and the devil was ever an ingrate to his Lord.” (17:27)

3:01 Give, O Muhammad, your relative his right through your maintaining ties with him and your kindness toward him.

3:08 And the needy from among those in need.

3:11 And the traveler who is stranded, so assist him.

3:14 And do not spend, O Muhammad, the wealth Allah has given you in disobedience to Him, squandering it.

3:21 Indeed, those who squander their wealth in the disobedience of Allah are allies of the devils.

3:26 And the devil is ever ungrateful to his Lord for the blessings He has bestowed upon him, not thanking Him for them.

3:33 “But if thou turn away from them, seeking mercy from thy Lord, for which thou hopest, then speak unto them a reasonable word.” (17:28)

3:51 And if you turn away, O Muhammad, from those whom I have commanded you to give their rights, because of your face.

3:59 When they ask you for what you cannot find a way to provide.

4:03 Out of shyness toward them and mercy for them.

4:06 Seeking the provision you await from your Lord.

4:10 And hoping that Allah will make it easy for you.

4:13 Then do not cause them to despair.

4:15 But speak to them with a gentle promise.

4:18 By saying, "Allah will provide, and then I will give to you."

4:22 “And let not thy hand be chained to thy neck nor open it with a complete opening, lest thou sit down rebuked, denuded.” (17:29)

4:33 Lest you become blamed and regretful.

4:38 And do not hold your hand, O Muhammad, in stinginess from spending in the rights of Allah.

4:44 So that you spend nothing in them.

4:47 Like the one whose hand is chained to his neck.

4:50 And do not extend it in giving to the full extent.

4:53 So that you are left with nothing.

4:56 And you sit blamed by those who ask you when you do not give them.

5:00 And blamed by your own self for the haste in your wealth and its depletion.

5:04 And you sit censured, having been cut off, with nothing left to spend.

5:10 “Lo! thy Lord enlargeth the provision for whom He will, and straiteneth (it for whom He will). Lo, He was ever Knower, Seer of His slaves.” (17:30)

5:19 Indeed, He is, concerning His servants, Acquainted and Seeing.

5:26 Your Lord, O Muhammad, extends provision to whom He wills of His servants and expands it for him.

5:33 And restricts it for whom He wills among them, tightening it upon him.

5:38 Indeed, your Lord is well-acquainted with His servants.

5:41 And knows who is benefited by abundance in provision and who is corrupted by it.

5:45 He is All-Seeing in His management and governance of them.

5:49 “Slay not your children, fearing a fall to poverty, We shall provide for them and for you. Lo! the slaying of them is great sin.” (17:31)

5:56 We provide for them and for you.

5:59 “Slay not your children, fearing a fall to poverty, We shall provide for them and for you. Lo! the slaying of them is great sin.” (17:31)

6:07 And do not kill your children for fear of poverty and want.

6:11 We provide for them and for you.

6:14 Indeed, their killing is a great sin and error.

6:17 And do not approach unlawful sexual intercourse.

6:20 “And come not near unto adultery. Lo! it is an abomination and an evil way.” (17:32)

6:29 And do not approach, O people, unlawful sexual intercourse.

6:32 Indeed, it is an immorality and an evil way.

6:37 Because the path of those who disobey Allah leads its follower to the fire of Hell.

6:43 And do not kill the soul which Allah has forbidden, except by right.

6:50 “And slay not the life which Allah hath forbidden save with right. Whoso is slain wrongfully, We have given power unto his heir, but let him not commit excess in slaying. Lo! he will be helped.” (17:33)

6:58 “And slay not the life which Allah hath forbidden save with right. Whoso is slain wrongfully, We have given power unto his heir, but let him not commit excess in slaying. Lo! he will be helped.” (17:33)

7:05 And He has also decreed that you shall not kill, O people, the soul which Allah has forbidden to be killed, except by right.

7:14 And its right is that it should not be killed except for apostasy after Islam.

7:19 Or unlawful sexual intercourse after marriage, or the taking of a life.

7:23 And whoever is killed without the reasons we have mentioned.

7:27 We have given the heir of the victim, who was killed unjustly, authority over the killer of his relative.

7:33 If he wishes, he may demand retribution and kill him for his relative, or if he wishes, he may pardon him, or if he wishes, he may take the blood money.

7:41 So let the heir of the victim not exceed limits in killing by killing someone other than the killer of his relative.

7:47 Indeed, the heir of the victim is supported.

7:52 And do not approach the orphan's property except in a way that is best until he reaches maturity.

8:00 “Come not near the wealth of the orphan save with that which is better till he come to strength; and keep the covenant. Lo! of the covenant it will be asked.” (17:34)

8:07 And He has also decreed that you shall not approach the orphan's property by consuming it.

8:11 “Prove orphans till they reach the marriageable age; then, if ye find them of sound judgment, deliver over unto them their fortune; and devour it not by squandering and in haste lest they should grow up Whoso (of the guardians) is rich, let him abstain generously (from taking of the property of orphans); and whoso is poor let him take thereof in reason (for his guardianship). And when ye deliver up their fortune unto orphans, have (the transaction) witnessed in their presence. Allah sufficeth as a Reckoner.” (4:6)

8:14 But approach it with the action that is best.

8:18 And that is by managing it for him through investment, improvement, and caution.

8:24 Until he reaches the time of his maturity in intellect and the management of his wealth.

8:29 And fulfill the covenant that you make with people.

8:32 Indeed, Allah will question the one who breaks the covenant about his breaking it.

8:36 So do not break covenants.

8:40 “Fill the measure when ye measure, and weigh with a right balance; that is meet, and better in the end.” (17:35)

8:47 That is better and best in outcome.

8:52 And He decreed that you fulfill the measure for people when you measure out their rights for them.

8:57 And He decreed that you also weigh with the balance that has no crookedness in it.

9:03 Your fulfillment, O people, for those to whom you measure, and your weighing with justice.

9:09 Is better for you than defrauding them.

9:12 And better in its return to you.

9:15 Because Allah is pleased with that from you.

9:18 And He will grant you a better reward.

9:21 “(O man), follow not that whereof thou hast no knowledge. Lo! the hearing and the sight and the heart - of each of these it will be asked.” (17:36)

9:26 “(O man), follow not that whereof thou hast no knowledge. Lo! the hearing and the sight and the heart - of each of these it will be asked.” (17:36)

9:36 Do not say about people, and among them, that of which you have no knowledge.

9:41 Lest you accuse them falsely and testify against them without truth.

9:46 Indeed, Allah will question these limbs about what their owner said.

9:51 And his own body parts will testify against him with the truth.

9:54 And do not walk upon the earth exultantly.

9:59 “And walk not in the earth exultant. Lo! thou canst not rend the earth, nor canst thou stretch to the height of the hills.” (17:37)

10:08 And do not walk upon the earth boastfully and arrogantly.

10:13 Indeed, you will never tear the earth apart with your arrogance.

10:16 And you will never reach the mountains in height with your pride and haughtiness.

10:20 “The evil of all that is hateful in the sight of thy Lord.” (17:38)

10:28 All of this that We have mentioned to you of these matters.

10:33 Its evil was hateful to your Lord, O Muhammad.

10:37 So avoid its occurrence and acting upon it.

10:40 “This is (part) of that wisdom wherewith thy Lord hath inspired thee (O Muhammad). And set not up with Allah any other god, lest thou be cast into hell, reproved, abandoned.” (17:39)

10:47 “This is (part) of that wisdom wherewith thy Lord hath inspired thee (O Muhammad). And set not up with Allah any other god, lest thou be cast into hell, reproved, abandoned.” (17:39)

10:51 “This is (part) of that wisdom wherewith thy Lord hath inspired thee (O Muhammad). And set not up with Allah any other god, lest thou be cast into hell, reproved, abandoned.” (17:39)

11:01 This which We have clarified for you, O Muhammad.

11:05 Of the beautiful morals that We have commanded you.

11:09 Of the wisdom that We have revealed to you in this Book of Ours.

11:14 And do not set up with Allah any partner in your worship.

11:17 Lest you be cast into Hell, blamed and reproached by your own self.

11:21 Banished and cast out into the Fire.

11:24 Has your Lord chosen you for sons?

11:29 “Hath your Lord then distinguished you (O men of Makka) by giving you sons, and hath chosen for Himself females from among the angels? Lo! verily ye speak an awful word!” (17:40)

11:33 “Hath your Lord then distinguished you (O men of Makka) by giving you sons, and hath chosen for Himself females from among the angels? Lo! verily ye speak an awful word!” (17:40)

11:39 Has your Lord singled you out with male children?

11:45 “Hath your Lord then distinguished you (O men of Makka) by giving you sons, and hath chosen for Himself females from among the angels? Lo! verily ye speak an awful word!” (17:40)

11:48 While you do not desire them for yourselves.

11:52 Indeed, you, O people, say a grave thing.

11:56 And you fabricate a lie against Allah from yourselves.

12:01 “We verily have displayed (Our warnings) in this Qur'an that they may take heed, but it increaseth them in naught save aversion.” (17:41)

12:10 And We have certainly diversified for these polytheists.

12:14 Who fabricate lies against Allah in this Qur'an.

12:17 The lessons, signs, and arguments.

12:20 And We have warned them in it and cautioned them.

12:23 So that they might remember those arguments.

12:25 And take heed from the lessons.

12:27 But Our reminding them does not increase them.

12:30 Except in turning away from the truth and distance from it.

12:33 “Say (O Muhammad, to the disbelievers): If there were other gods along with Him, as they say, then had they sought a way against the Lord of the Throne.” (17:42)

12:38 Then they would have sought a way to the Possessor of the Throne.

12:43 Say, O Muhammad, to these polytheists.

12:47 If the matter were as you say, that there are gods with Him.

12:52 Then those gods would have sought a way of nearness.

12:55 To Allah, the Possessor of the Great Throne.

12:57 And sought a position with Him.

13:01 Exalted is He and High.

13:03 Above what they say.

13:05 With great exaltation.

13:09 “The seven heavens and the earth and all that is therein praise Him, and there is not a thing but hymneth His praise; but ye understand not their praise. Lo! He is ever Clement, Forgiving.” (17:44)

13:13 And whoever is among them.

13:16 “The seven heavens and the earth and all that is therein praise Him, and there is not a thing but hymneth His praise; but ye understand not their praise. Lo! He is ever Clement, Forgiving.” (17:44)

13:22 “The seven heavens and the earth and all that is therein praise Him, and there is not a thing but hymneth His praise; but ye understand not their praise. Lo! He is ever Clement, Forgiving.” (17:44)

13:26 Indeed, He is ever Forbearing and Forgiving.

13:31 In declaration of Allah's perfection and His transcendence above what you say, O people.

13:36 Allah is exalted, O polytheists.

13:39 Above what you have described Him with, the seven heavens and the earth.

13:42 And whoever is in them of those who believe in Him.

13:45 From the angels, humans, and jinn.

13:48 And there is not a thing from His creation.

13:50 Except that it exalts Him with His praise.

13:52 But you do not understand their exaltation.

13:55 Other than the exaltation of those who exalt Him.

13:57 With tongues like yours.

13:59 Indeed, Allah is ever Forbearing, not hastening to punish His creation.

14:03 Concealing their sins for them.

14:06 If they repent from them.

14:08 And when you recite the Qur'an.

14:12 “And when thou recitest the Qur'an we place between thee and those who believe not in the Hereafter a hidden barrier;” (17:45)

14:15 They do not believe in the Hereafter.

14:17 A hidden veil.

14:20 And when you recite, O Muhammad, the Qur'an.

14:24 To these polytheists.

14:26 We place between you and them a veil.

14:29 That veils their hearts from understanding.

14:31 What you recite to them.

14:33 And hidden from the servants.

14:35 So they do not see it, nor do their eyes perceive it.

14:41 And We have placed coverings over their hearts.

14:45 So that they do not understand it, and in their ears is deafness.

14:50 “And We place upon their hearts veils lest they should understand it, and in their ears a deafness; and when thou makest mention of thy Lord alone in the Qur'an, they turn their backs in aversion.” (17:46)

14:54 And they turn their backs in aversion.

14:58 And We have placed over the hearts of these.

15:01 Who do not believe in the Hereafter, coverings.

15:04 Which is what covers them of Allah's abandonment.

15:07 Of them, preventing them from understanding what is recited to them.

15:10 And We have placed in their ears deafness.

15:13 To hearing it, and a blockage.

15:15 And when you say, "There is no god but Allah" in the Qur'an.

15:19 While you are reciting it.

15:21 They turn away and depart from you.

15:23 In aversion to your words and arrogance toward it.

15:26 And considering it too great that Allah the Exalted should be worshipped alone.

15:30 “We are Best Aware of what they wish to hear when they give ear to thee and when they take secret counsel, when the evil-doers say: Ye follow but a man bewitched.” (17:47)

15:35 When they listen to you.

15:37 And when they are in private, when the wrongdoers say.

15:42 When the wrongdoers say.

15:44 "You follow none but a man affected by magic."

15:50 We are most knowing, O Muhammad.

15:53 Of what these people listen to.

15:55 Who do not believe in the Hereafter.

15:58 When they listen to you.

15:59 While you are reciting the Book of Allah.

16:02 And when they are in private in the Dar al-Nadwah.

16:05 And their private conversation was that they claimed he was a madman and a magician.

16:09 When the polytheists say.

16:11 "You follow none but a man affected by magic."

16:16 Look at how they have set forth comparisons for you.

16:20 So they have strayed and cannot find a way.

16:25 Look, O Muhammad, with the eye of your heart.

16:29 And consider how they have set forth comparisons for you.

16:32 And likened you to things.

16:34 By their saying, "He is affected by magic."

16:36 "He is a poet, and he is a madman."

16:39 So they have deviated from the right path.

16:41 And they are not guided to the path of truth.

16:44 Due to their misguidance and their distance from it.

16:47 And they said, "When we are bones and fragments."

16:52 "Are we really to be resurrected as a new creation?"

16:58 And the polytheists said.

17:01 "When we are bones after our death."

17:04 And [we shall be] dust within our graves.

17:06 Indeed, we shall be resurrected after our transition into the graves.

17:10 [We shall be] a new creation, brought forth anew.

17:12 We shall be restored just as we were first created.
