0:12 Surah al-Waqi'ah (The Inevitable Event).

0:16 In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

0:22 When the Inevitable Event occurs.

0:25 There is no denying its occurrence.

0:29 When the blast of the Resurrection descends.

0:33 This is when the Trumpet is blown for the establishment of the Hour.

0:37 There is no denying the occurrence of the Inevitable Event.

0:41 It will bring low and raise high.

0:44 The event, at that time,

0:46 will bring low groups who were mighty in the world, casting them into the Fire of Allah.

0:51 And it will raise high groups who were oppressed in the world, elevating them to the mercy of Allah and His Paradise.

0:58 It has also been said:

0:59 It lowers, so it makes the near hear.

1:02 And it raises, so it makes the far hear.

1:20 When the earth is shaken and moved with a violent shaking.

1:24 And the mountains are crumbled into fragments, becoming like moist flour.

1:29 They become like the appearance of dust when sunlight enters through a window.

1:34 The observer thinks it is dust, yet it is nothing that hands can grasp or touch.

1:40 Scattered and dispersed.

1:49 And you, O people, will be three types and categories:

1:54 The Companions of the Right, the Companions of the Left, and the Foremost.

2:01 And the Companions of the Right—what are the Companions of the Right?

2:06 “And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand?” (56:9)

2:11 Allah causes His Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) to marvel at those who are taken to the right toward Paradise.

2:18 He says: "What are the Companions of the Right?" and the Companions of the Left are those who are taken to the left toward the Fire.

2:27 And the Foremost, the Foremost—those are the ones brought near.

2:37 In the Gardens of Bliss.

2:43 A multitude from the early generations.

2:48 And a few from the later generations.

2:54 Those who were foremost in faith in Allah and His Messenger.

2:58 They are the first of the Emigrants.

3:01 Those are the ones whom Allah will bring near to Him on the Day of Resurrection when He admits them into Paradise.

3:07 In gardens of eternal bliss.

3:10 A group from the past nations.

3:13 And a few from the Ummah of Muhammad (peace be upon him).

3:18 On thrones woven with gold.

3:23 Reclining upon them, facing one another.

3:29 Upon thrones woven, with some parts interlaced with others.

3:34 Reclining upon the woven thrones.

3:37 Facing one another with their faces, so that none of them looks at the back of another.

3:44 Circulating among them will be immortal youths.

3:50 “With bowls and ewers and a cup from a pure spring” (56:18)

3:59 “Wherefrom they get no aching of the head nor any madness,” (56:19)

4:05 These youths will circulate among the Foremost, remaining at one age, neither changing nor dying.

4:13 With cups—which are vessels with wide openings, having no spout.

4:18 And pitchers with handles.

4:21 And a cup of wine from a flowing spring, visible and running.

4:26 It will not cause their heads to ache from drinking it, so they do not become intoxicated, nor will their drink run out.

4:32 And fruit of what they choose.

4:40 “And flesh of fowls that they desire.” (56:21)

4:46 These immortal youths will circulate among the Foremost

4:52 with fruits that they choose for themselves from Paradise.

4:59 They will also circulate among them with the meat of birds that their souls desire.

5:23 And with them will be the wide-eyed houris, who are pure in the whiteness of their eyes.

5:28 And intense in the blackness of their eyes, beautiful and large-eyed.

5:33 In the clarity of their whiteness and beauty, they are like hidden pearls that have been protected in their shells.

5:41 As a reward for them from Allah for their deeds, and a compensation for their obedience to Him.

5:59 They will not hear therein any vain speech, nor anything that causes sin.

6:06 They will hear no speech therein except for peace, and it has been said:

6:12 Rather, they will hear only "Peace, peace."

6:23 And the Companions of the Right, who are taken on the Day of Resurrection to the right.

6:28 And given their records in their right hands—O Muhammad, what is their state, what do they possess, and what has been prepared for them of good?

6:37 Among lote trees with thorns removed, banana trees layered with fruit, extended shade, and flowing water.

7:09 They are in a shade that is permanent, not replaced or removed by the sun.

7:14 And therein is water poured out, flowing without a channel.

7:29 And therein is abundant fruit, none of which is ever cut off from them.

7:35 Unlike the fruits of summer that end in winter in the world.

7:40 And nothing prevents them from it, nor do thorns on the trees or the distance of the trees stand between them and it.

7:48 Rather, if one of them desires it, it falls into his mouth or draws near to him until he takes it with his hand.

8:11 And they have therein raised beds, some above others.

8:24 We created them a special creation, bringing them into existence as virgins.

8:32 We made them virgins, affectionate and loving toward their husbands, all of the same age.

8:43 A multitude from the early generations and a multitude from the later generations.

8:53 We brought these virgins into existence for those who are taken to the right from the place of reckoning to Paradise.

9:02 Those who possess this honor are two groups and two factions.

9:08 A group from those who passed away before the Ummah of Muhammad (peace be upon him).

9:27 The Prophet (peace be upon him) says, marveling.

9:29 And the Companions of the Left, who are taken to the left from the place of reckoning to the Fire.

9:36 What is for them, and what has been prepared for them?

9:55 They are in the scorching heat of Hell and its boiling water.

9:58 And a shade of smoke that is intensely black.

10:02 That shade is not cool like the coolness of the shadows of other things.

10:07 Rather, it is hot because it is smoke from the blaze of Hell.

10:12 And it is not honorable, because it is painful to whoever seeks shade in it.

10:18 “Lo! heretofore they were effete with luxury” (56:45)

10:25 “And used to persist in the awful sin.” (56:46)

10:31 Indeed, the Companions of the Left were, before they were afflicted with the punishment of Allah, living in luxury.

10:38 And they persisted in the great sin, which is associating partners with Allah.

10:43 “And they used to say: When we are dead and have become dust and bones, shall we then, forsooth, be raised again,” (56:47)

10:59 Or our forefathers of old?

11:03 “Say (unto them, O Muhammad): Lo! those of old and those of later time” (56:49)

11:09 They will surely be gathered together for the appointment of a known day.

11:16 And they used to say, in their disbelief in the Resurrection:

11:22 "When we are dust in our graves and decaying bones,

11:26 are we indeed to be resurrected from it alive as we were before death?

11:32 Or our forefathers of old who were before us?"

11:36 Say, O Muhammad, to them:

11:39 "Indeed, the first of your forefathers and the later ones, from you and others,

11:44 “Will all be brought together to the tryst of an appointed day.” (56:50)

11:48 will be gathered on the Day of Resurrection."

11:52 “Then lo! ye, the erring, the deniers,” (56:51)

12:01 “Ye verily will eat of a tree called Zaqqum” (56:52)

12:08 Then you will be filling your bellies with it.

12:12 Then indeed, you who have strayed from the path of guidance,

12:17 who deny the warning and promise of Allah,

12:20 “Ye verily will eat of a tree called Zaqqum” (56:52)

12:23 will be filling your bellies with the Zaqqum tree.

12:27 “And thereon ye will drink of boiling water,” (56:54)

12:32 Then you will be drinking like thirsty camels.

12:36 “This will be their welcome on the Day of Judgment.” (56:56)

12:41 The Companions of the Left will drink from the Zaqqum tree.

12:46 When they eat it and fill their bellies with it,

12:49 they will drink from the boiling water that has reached its peak in heat.

12:53 They will drink like camels afflicted with a disease

12:57 that are never quenched by water.

12:59 This which I have described to you, O people,

13:02 is their hospitality that their Lord will provide for them on the day Allah judges His servants.

13:08 “We created you. Will ye then admit the truth?” (56:57)

13:15 We created you, O people,

13:18 when you were nothing.

13:20 So We brought you into existence as human beings.

13:22 Why, then, do you not believe the One who did that to you when He tells you

13:27 that He will resurrect you after your death?

13:30 Have you seen what you emit?

13:36 “Do ye create it or are We the Creator?” (56:59)

13:44 Have you seen, O you who deny the power of Allah to bring you to life after your death,

13:50 the semen that you emit into the wombs of your women?

13:54 Is it you who create it, or are We the Creators?

13:58 “We mete out death among you, and We are not to be outrun,” (56:60)

14:05 “That We may transfigure you and make you what ye know not.” (56:61)

14:14 “And verily ye know the first creation. Why, then, do ye not reflect?” (56:62)

14:22 We have decreed death among you, O people.

14:25 We have ordained it for some and delayed it for others until a specified term.

14:31 And We are not to be outrun, O people, regarding your souls and your appointed times.

14:36 So that the matter We have decreed for them—of life and death—is not altered by us.

14:42 Rather, nothing of our appointed time is brought forward or delayed.

14:47 So that We may replace you with others like you after your destruction.

14:52 And We will bring others of your kind.

14:55 And We will transform you into forms that you do not know.

15:02 And you have already known, O people, the first creation by which We brought you into existence.

15:08 When you were nothing before that.

15:11 Why, then, do you not remember, O people?

15:14 So that you may know that He who brought you into existence the first time

15:18 will not find it difficult to bring you back after your death.

15:23 Have you seen what you sow?

15:28 “Is it ye who foster it, or are We the Fosterer?” (56:64)

15:35 “If We willed, We verily could make it chaff, then would ye cease not to exclaim:” (56:65)

15:43 "We are indeed burdened with debt."

15:48 "Rather, we are deprived."

15:52 Have you seen, O people, the crop that you sow?

15:57 Is it you who make it grow, or are We the ones who make it so?

16:02 If We willed, We could make that crop which We have sown into debris, of no benefit for food or sustenance.

16:10 So you would remain wondering at what happened to your crop,

16:14 and you would say:

16:16 "Our crop has perished, and we have been afflicted because we are in debt."

16:20 "Rather, we are a people deprived, having no share."

16:26 “Have ye observed the water which ye drink?” (56:68)

16:32 “Is it ye who shed it from the raincloud, or are We the Shedder?” (56:69)

16:41 “If We willed We verily could make it bitter. Why then, give ye not thanks?” (56:70)

16:49 Have you seen, O people, the water that you drink?

16:53 Is it you who sent it down from the clouds above you to the earth, or are We the ones who sent it down for you?

17:01 If We willed, We could make that water which We sent down for you from the clouds salty,

17:07 so you would not benefit from it for drinking, planting, or farming.

17:12 Why, then, do you not thank your Lord for what He has given you of fresh water for your drinking and your needs?

17:20 “Have ye observed the fire which ye strike out;” (56:71)

17:26 “Was it ye who made the tree thereof to grow, or were We the grower?” (56:72)

17:34 “We, even We, appointed it a memorial and a comfort for the dwellers in the wilderness.” (56:73)

17:41 So glorify the name of your Lord, the Most Great.

17:48 Have you seen, O people, the fire that you kindle from your flint?

17:53 Is it you who created its tree and invented its origin, or are We the ones who invented and created that?

18:01 We have made the fire a reminder for you, so that you may remember the Fire of Hell, and a provision for travelers.

18:09 So glorify, O Muhammad, by the name of your Lord, the Most Great.
