0:17 In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.

0:22 Alif-Lam-Mim.

0:31 Allah—there is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of all existence.

0:37 Divinity belongs exclusively to Him, to the exclusion of all other false deities and equals,

0:43 and worship is neither fitting nor permissible for anyone but Him,

0:47 because He is singular in His Lordship and unique in His Divinity.

0:51 He is the Ever-Living Who neither dies nor perishes,

0:54 unlike all those who are taken as lords besides Him, who inevitably die,

0:58 and all those claimed to be deities besides Him, who inevitably perish.

1:02 He is the Self-Sustaining Maintainer, preserving, providing for, and regulating all things,

1:06 directing them as He wills and pleases through change, alteration, increase, and decrease.

1:14 “He hath revealed unto thee (Muhammad) the Scripture with truth, confirming that which was (revealed) before it, even as He revealed the Torah and the Gospel.” (3:3)

1:20 And He revealed the Torah and the Gospel

1:26 aforetime as guidance for the people,

1:30 and He revealed the Criterion.

1:34 “Aforetime, for a guidance to mankind; and hath revealed the Criterion (of right and wrong). Lo! those who disbelieve the revelations of Allah, theirs will be a heavy doom. Allah is Mighty, Able to Requite (the wrong).” (3:4)

1:43 And Allah is Exalted in Might, Owner of Retribution.

1:49 O Muhammad, truly your Lord, the Lord of Jesus, and the Lord of all things

1:56 is the One Who revealed the Qur'an to you with the truth concerning that wherein the people of the Torah and the Gospel differed,

2:02 confirming the divine scriptures that came before it, which He revealed to His prophets and messengers,

2:09 because the One Who revealed all of them is One, so there can be no contradiction therein.

2:15 He revealed the Torah to Moses and the Gospel to Jesus before this Book which He revealed to you,

2:22 as a clear clarification from Allah for mankind regarding their disputes over the oneness of Allah and the affirmation of His messengers.

2:29 And He revealed the Criterion separating truth from falsehood regarding the matters wherein the factions and religious sects differed concerning Jesus and others.

2:37 Indeed, those who reject Allah's clear signs and His proofs of His oneness and divinity,

2:43 denying that Jesus is the servant of Allah, taking the Messiah as a deity and a lord, or claiming that he is a son of Allah—

2:51 they will have a severe punishment from Allah on the Day of Resurrection.

2:55 “Lo! nothing in the earth or in the heavens is hidden from Allah.” (3:5)

3:11 He says: How could anything of what they fabricate be hidden from Me, O Muhammad,

3:17 namely those who dispute with you concerning Allah's verses—the Christians of Najran—regarding Jesus, the son of Mary,

3:23 in the claims they assert about him?

3:39 It is Allah Who forms you in the wombs of your mothers however He wills and pleases,

3:45 making this one male, that one female, this one black, and that one white.

3:51 He thereby makes known to His servants that everyone borne within women's wombs

3:57 is among those whom He has fashioned and created however He willed;

4:00 and Jesus, the son of Mary, is indeed among those He formed in his mother's womb,

4:05 and had he been a deity, he would not have been among those carried inside a mother's womb.

4:10 Then He declared Himself far above having any rival in His Lordship,

4:15 or that divinity could ever be permissible for anyone other than Him.

4:19 And He is the Exalted in Might, against Whom no one can defend the one He intends to punish,

4:24 by virtue of His absolute might, before which every created being is humbled.

4:28 And He is the All-Wise in His regulation, in leaving no excuse for His creation,

4:33 and in continually establishing His proofs against them.

4:49 “He it is Who hath revealed unto thee (Muhammad) the Scripture wherein are clear revelations - they are the substance of the Book - and others (which are) allegorical. But those in whose hearts is doubt pursue, forsooth, that which is allegorical seeking (to cause) dissension by seeking to explain it. None knoweth its explanation save Allah. And those who are of sound instruction say: We believe therein; the whole is from our Lord; but only men of understanding really heed.” (3:7)

5:29 And none will be reminded except those of understanding.

5:45 Their proofs have been firmly established regarding the lawful and the prohibited, the promise and the warning,

5:50 reward and punishment, command and prohibition,

5:53 reports, parables, admonitions, lessons, and the like.

5:58 They are the foundation of the Book, containing the pillar of the religion, the obligatory duties, the prescribed limits,

6:04 and all else that the creation requires concerning their religion.

6:08 While others are ambiguous in recitation, bearing various meanings.

6:13 As for those in whose hearts is a deviation and straying from the truth,

6:18 they pursue those verses of the Book whose phrasings are ambiguous,

6:23 and which can be diverted into various interpretations because of the different meanings they carry,

6:28 intending thereby to create confusion for themselves and for others,

6:32 and using them as a pretext to support their falsehood.

6:35 Yet none knows the appointed time of the Hour or what is yet to come except Allah.

6:40 As for those firmly grounded in knowledge, who have mastered, comprehended, and preserved it, they say:

6:46 We believe in the ambiguous verses of the Book,

6:50 and that they are the truth, even if we do not know their ultimate interpretation;

6:54 all of it—both the clear and the ambiguous parts of the Book—is from our Lord,

6:59 and it is His revelation and divine communication to His Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him.

7:06 And none takes heed and desists from speaking about the ambiguous verses of the Book of Allah

7:11 without knowledge except people of sound intellect and discerning minds.

7:33 Those firmly grounded in knowledge also say:

7:36 Our Lord, do not let our hearts deviate, turning them away from Your guidance,

7:40 after You have guided us to believe in both the clear and the ambiguous verses of Your Book;

7:45 and grant us from Yourself, our Lord, divine enabling and steadfastness in that which we adhere to.

7:51 Indeed, You are the Bestower Who grants Your servants guidance and rectitude to remain steadfast upon Your religion,

7:57 and to believe in Your Book and Your messengers.

8:06 Our Lord, surely You will gather mankind for the Day of Resurrection, so forgive us on that Day and pardon us,

8:13 for You do not fail in Your promise that whoever believes in You, follows Your Messenger,

8:20 and acts upon what You have commanded him in Your Book, You will forgive him on that Day.

8:39 Their wealth and their children will not avail them anything against Allah.

8:52 “(On that Day) neither the riches nor the progeny of those who disbelieve will aught avail them with Allah. They will be fuel for Fire.” (3:10)

8:59 Indeed, those who rejected the truth that they recognized regarding the prophethood of Muhammad, peace be upon him,

9:07 will not be saved by their wealth or their children from Allah's punishment when He inflicts it upon them,

9:13 and they are the fuel of the Fire.

9:32 Their customary fate is like that of the people of Pharaoh and their habit,

9:36 as well as the nations before them who denied Our signs, so We destroyed them for their sins;

9:43 and Allah is severe in penalty toward those who disbelieve in Him and deny His messengers after the proof has been established against them.

9:50 “Say (O Muhammad) unto those who disbelieve: Ye shall be overcome and gathered unto Hell, an evil resting-place.” (3:12)

10:00 Say, O Muhammad, to those who disbelieved among the Jews of the Children of Israel:

10:06 You will be overcome and gathered and driven toward Hell, and wretched is the resting place.

10:14 There has already been for you a sign in the two armies that met.

10:20 “There was a token for you in two hosts which met: one army fighting in the way of Allah, and another disbelieving, whom they saw as twice their number, clearly, with their very eyes. Thus Allah strengtheneth with His succour whom He will. Lo! herein verily is a lesson for those who have eyes.” (3:13)

10:49 Say, O Muhammad, to those who disbelieved among the Jews:

10:53 There has already been a sign for you that you will be defeated, seen in two parties and factions:

10:59 one group fighting in obedience to Allah and for His religion,

11:03 namely the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, and his Companions;

11:08 and another disbelieving, polytheist group, whom the Muslims saw with their own eyes to be twice their number,

11:16 because Allah had diminished them in their eyes at one point,

11:20 so their estimation of them was as such;

11:23 then He diminished them further in their eyes than the initial reduction,

11:27 so they estimated them to be equal to the number of the Muslims;

11:30 then He diminished them a third time,

11:33 so they estimated them to be fewer than the number of the Muslims.

11:37 And Allah supports with His victory whom He wills.

11:40 Indeed, Our support of the Muslim party despite their small number

11:45 against the disbelieving party despite their large number

11:48 is truly a matter for reflection and an admonition for whoever possesses reason, remembers, and perceives the truth.

11:55 “Beautified for mankind is love of the joys (that come) from women and offspring; and stored-up heaps of gold and silver, and horses branded (with their mark), and cattle and land. That is comfort of the life of the world. Allah! With Him is a more excellent abode.” (3:14)

12:36 Beautified for mankind is the love of that which they desire—of women, sons,

12:41 hoarded heaps of vast wealth stacked one upon another,

12:44 branded horses of striking beauty to whoever beholds them,

12:48 and cattle and cultivated land.

12:51 That is the fleeting enjoyment of the worldly life enjoyed by its people while they live,

12:57 without it serving as provision for their ultimate return or drawing them near to their Lord,

13:02 except for what is directed in His cause and spent in obedience to what He commanded;

13:07 and with Allah is the best return.
